Guests now read the privacy fine print before they book
Guests have started paying attention to the small print. Not the cancellation policy, the privacy one. According to Revfine, travellers increasingly notice how hotels collect, store and protect personal information across Wi-Fi logins, mobile apps, payment systems and loyalty programmes.
I think this is the shift hoteliers keep underestimating. For years privacy was filed under IT and legal, a box to tick. Now it decides whether a guest hands over a card at checkout or books direct next time.
The reason is simple. A traveller leaves a trail at every step, from the welcome email to the room-service payment. If that trail feels sloppy, the trust goes with it. The good news is that getting it right is now cheaper and faster than ever: clean consent flows, clear data policies and tighter payments are within reach of any property that wants to build loyalty instead of eroding it.
