Guest Data Lives in Six Tools and None of Them Owns the Profile
Ireckonu has just put a number on something hoteliers have suspected for years. 22% of hotel guest profiles have no room stay attached to them. One in five profiles sitting in your CRM or PMS belongs to nobody. They are ghosts. And the stats come from a vendor that sells the fix, so read them with that in mind, but the direction of travel matches what revenue managers see every week.
The diagnosis is not exotic. Guest data lives scattered across the PMS, the booking engine, the OTA extranets, F&B, loyalty, spa and the Wi-Fi login tool. Nobody owns the unified profile, so the same traveller appears as four different people with two email addresses and a phone number that belongs to someone else. A dedicated hospitality CDP is what the author of the original piece on Hospitality Net argues for, and I agree with the shape of the argument.
My reading: hotels do not need another dashboard. They need one record per guest that every tool reads and writes back to. Personalisation, upsell, retention and the AI projects everyone has on the roadmap all die on the same hill when the identity layer is broken. Fix the identity layer and everything downstream gets cheaper.
