Spanish hotels bet big on renovation over new builds in 2026

Renovation projects now make up 77% of hotel construction activity in Spain, according to latest data from Intescia, DoubleTrade. Out of 556 detected projects in the first half of 2026, over three-quarters focus on modernizing existing properties rather than greenfield builds. The total investment mobilized exceeds 1.077 billion euros, a 12% jump year-over-year.
