Hotel chains rush into AI without the cloud foundation
Growing hotel chains across APAC, the Middle East and Africa are buying AI faster than they are fixing the plumbing underneath it. That is the read from a piece published on Hospitality Net: many of these groups are rolling out AI tools before they have a unified cloud layer and clean data foundations in place, which is exactly what decides whether a model works in one flagship property or across the whole portfolio.
The pattern is familiar. A revenue or guest-experience pilot shines in the hotel where someone keeps the spreadsheets tidy. Then it hits the second and third property, the PMS speaks a different dialect, the channel manager exports something else, and the model has nothing consistent to learn from. The AI is not the problem. The backbone is.
My take: this is good news dressed as a warning. The chains growing fastest in these regions have a rare advantage, they can choose the unified cloud and data layer now, before legacy sprawl calcifies. Get that right and every AI tool you plug in later multiplies across the estate instead of dying in a pilot.
