Mews leads with 80 points, Oracle Opera 5 sits at 26.3. ## Article A new audit of **343 hotel PMS vendors** lands with a number that should make every hotelier stop and think: only **7% publish fully self-serve API documentation**. That is it. Seven in a hundred. The [2026 PMS API study](https://www.hospitalitynet.org/news/4134549/the-2026-pms-api-study) scores 18 profiles and the spread is brutal, from **80.0 for Mews** down to **26.3 for Oracle Opera 5**. What does this mean in practice? If your PMS hides its API behind a sales call, an NDA and a six-week integration project, every tool you want to plug in, from a revenue manager to an upsell engine to a payments layer, becomes a negotiation instead of a weekend. Self-serve docs are the difference between a hotel running its own stack and a hotel waiting for a vendor ticket. My read: the 7% figure is not a scandal, it is a map of where the value is moving. Vendors that open their APIs attract builders, and builders bring hotels the tools they actually ask for. If you are choosing a PMS this year, put API openness on the shortlist next to price and support. It will matter more than either one by 2027. ## Sources - Hospitality Net: https://www.hospitalitynet.org/news/4134549/the-2026-pms-api-study ## Citation Only 7% of hotel PMS vendors offer self-serve API docs.
