Summary: An op-ed on Hospitality Net argues that hotels have reduced staff to button-pushers for software, and that AI should give the human back the human part of hospitality.

## Article

There is an op-ed on Hospitality Net that says out loud what many of us have thought at a front desk at 11pm: **humans have become servants of computers**. The piece argues that hotels have spent years reducing staff to system operators, people whose job is basically to feed a PMS, a channel manager and four browser tabs without breaking the guest experience.

The author's pitch is blunt. AI should be aimed at stripping away the rote computer tasks, not at replacing the person. Give the front desk agent back the parts of the job that only a human can do: read a tired guest, fix a bad room assignment before it becomes a review, upsell with judgement. That is the whole game. I buy the diagnosis. Most hotel tech stacks still earn their keep by adding clicks to a human. Every chatbot that saves a call but breaks a repeat guest is a loss disguised as a win. The opportunity here is real and close: the same PMSs and CRSs that trained staff to obey them can now take the keystrokes back, if the vendors stop shipping features and start shipping fewer steps. For hoteliers shopping for tech this year, that is the metric I would push hardest on. Not what the tool does, but how much it gives back to the person using it.
