Summary: The DMA has forced Google to strip live rates, date filters and budget tags from its hotel search unit in the EU. Hotels lose visibility, but gain a chance to own the direct relationship.

## Article

Google has quietly removed live pricing, date filters and budget tags from its hotel search unit across the European Union to comply with the DMA. That leaves hotels showing only a name, a link and an address inside a box that used to drive bookings, as reported this week by [Hospitality Net](https://www.hospitalitynet.org/editorial/4134325/google-stripped-rates-from-its-eu-hotel-unit-anthropics-risk-report-has-four-findings-hotels-arent-reading-staff-confidence-is-a-guest-experience-strategy).

The same piece flags that Anthropic's latest risk report makes four points hotels are not reading, and that staff confidence has become a real guest experience strategy. Two of those three are worth your time. The Google move is the one that hits revenue directly: without a rate visible on the SERP, the click goes to whoever tells the best story, not whoever has the cheapest night.

My read: this is good news for hotels that have invested in direct booking, brand and loyalty. The metasearch shortcut disappears, but the owned channel gets more room. If your booking engine loads fast, your rate is clear and your loyalty program gives a reason to book direct, you are better off than you were last quarter.
